I then had the students write their sentences for the second problem and we compared the two. Problems: 1. Joey had 8 fish. Four of his fish died. He took the fish that he had left and gave them to his two best friends. He made sure they got the same amount. How many fish did each friend get? 2. Joe went to the pet shop on June 5th and bought 87 fish. By the following Wednesday, 42 were dead. He decided fish were not his thing, so he decided to take the remaining fish and give an equal number to six of his friends. If there were any left over, he would donate them to his school. How many fish did each of his friends get? Did the school get any? On Tuesday, February 26, there will be opportunities for parents to come view and experience dance with Prestige Dance Academy during their child’s scheduled P.E. time. Room 16 will be dancing from 10:15 - 10:45. All students are asked to wear a blackshirt and blue jeans on their dance viewing day.
We are grateful to have these talented dance instructors volunteer their time to work with our students!
Wonder We may not have an August in our lives, but everyday we meet and interact with people who are different from us. What message will you take away from Wonder? How will you apply it in your own life? Math Tom's saving account at the bank had $2342 in it. He decided to use some of that money to buy a used motorcycle that cost $2279. He then wanted to donate all the money that was left to his favourite charities. He would make sure that each of the four charities got the same amount and, if there was any remainder, he would spend it on a treat for himself. How much did Tom donate to each charity? How much money, if any, remained to buy a treat with?
